A well-concealed Bren gunner of the 7th Gurkha Rifles amongst the thick foliage of the Burmese jungle, 1944 (c)

The soldier depicted was probably a member of the 1st Battalion, part of 48th Indian Infantry Brigade of 17th Indian Division. The latter had the distinction of being almost continually in combat during the three-year long Burma campaign.
