Shamshir sword belonging to Prince Abu Bakr, 1857 (c)
During the Indian Mutiny (1857-1859), the prince was nominal commander-in-chief of the Moghul emperor's Delhi's forces and heir presumptive to the throne. Lieutenant William Hodson probably took his sword after the fall of Delhi in September 1857. He is said to have stripped several Mohgul princes of their jewellery and swords before shooting them.
