Sabretache, 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoons, 1850 (c)
Scarlet Morocco leather expanding wallet; gold and silver wire badge.
A sabretache is a type of satchel that was fixed by straps to a cavalry officer's belt. Although originally envisaged as a container for documents such as orders and maps, by the mid-19th century most sabretaches had a purely decorative role.
