Watercolour by Major Alfred Crowdy Lovett (1862-1919), 1908 (c).
The seven soldiers depicted here all came from Rajputana (present day Rajasthan), a region of western India. The regiments represented are (from the left) the 113th Infantry, 119th Infantry (Multan Regiment), 112th Infantry, 109th Infantry, 104th Wellesley's Rifles and 123rd Outram's Rifles, all units of the Bombay Army prior to the 1903 reforms.
This is the original artwork for an illustration in Major G F MacMunn's 'Armies of India', published in 1911.
