Sir Pratap Singh (1845-1922) was the Maharaja of Idar between 1902 and 1911. He also served at various times (1878-1888 and 1889-1895) as regent and Chief Minister of the princely state of Jodhpur. A soldier as well as a statesman, he accompanied the British mission to Afghanistan in 1879 and later served on the staffs of Sir William Lockhart and General Elles during the Tirah and Momand campaigns (1897-1898). In 1900 he took part in the 3rd China War (Boxer Rebellion) as commander of the Jodhpur Lancers.
