A lance-corporal of 2nd Battalion, The Connaught Rangers, 1882 (c)

The Connaught Rangers was formed during the Army reorganisation of 1881, by merging the 88th and 94th Regiments of Foot into a new two-battalion unit. This soldier wears the infantry home service uniform, including the 1878 helmet and 1882 valise equipment. He carries a Martini-Henry rifle.

Associated with Colonel Hume, 94th Regiment of Foot.
