'The Sepoy of the Cavalry', 1835 (c)

Watercolour on European paper, by a Company artist, 1835 (c).

Simple Company paintings like these could be bought cheaply in bazaars. Unusually, this example appears to have mechanically-printed black outlines that have then been hand-painted in colour. This technique would have aided the multiple production of pictures.
