Presentation bugle, 2nd Battalion Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians), 1911

Silver, made by Henry Potter and Company, 36 and 38 West Street and Charing Cross Road, London, 1911.

This silver bugle was won by Drummer M Doyle at Jullundar (Jalandhar), India, on 6 October 1911. The Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians) had served in the Boer War (1899-1902) in South Africa and was then posted for garrison duties in India until the First World War. Bugles were popular presentation pieces to reward achievements, competition victories, or recognition of service.
