Concertina played by Surgeon James Fairweather during the Indian Mutiny, 1857 (c)
Fairweather was a medical officer with the 4th Punjab Infantry and served with the latter during the capture of Delhi. On 20 September 1857, his regiment took part in the final assault on the Red Fort in tandem with the 60th Regiment of Foot. He carried his concertina with him throughout the campaign and later served at Lucknow.
