Box containing bone splinters from the arm of Lieutenant Charles Fletcher, 48th Bengal Native Infantry, 1857
Charles William Fletcher (1833-1903) was reputedly present at the Siege of Lucknow in 1857, during the Indian Mutiny (1857-1859). His arm was apparently shattered by a musket ball during the siege when he was serving as a Lieutenant in the 48th Bengal Native Infantry. The bone fragments are believed to have been removed from his arm in 1868.
