Several Gurkha units, including battalions from the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 10th Gurkha Rifles were involved in many of the key battles of the Italian campaign, winning particular fame at Monte Cassino and the breaking of the Gothic Line defences.
