Indian Independence Medal 1948

This medal was awarded to all Indian military personnel serving with what became the post-independence Indian military on 15 August 1947. Many British personnel also received it as they were assisting with the transition to independence. To be eligible, British service men and women had to be serving on 1 January 1948.
