Portrait of Lieutenant (later Lieutenant Colonel Sir) Edward Hearle Cole (1863-1949), 11th King Edward's Own Lancers (Probyn's Horse), wearing his India General Service Medal 1854-95, with clasps, 'Burma 1885-7', 'Burma 1887-89', and 'Hazara 1891'.
Cole would go on to serve in the Chitral campaign of 1895, Malakand in 1897 and the 3rd China War (or Boxer Rebeliion) in 1900.
