Royal Artillery under shell fire, World War One, Western Front (1914-1918), 1918
Charcoal drawing, signed and dated lower right, 'W.B. Wollen 1919', by William Barns Wollen, 1919.
British artillerymen limber up a field gun as German artillery targets their position. The scene is a very similar composition to another drawing by Wollen in the National Army Museum Collection (NAM. 1961-09-12-1)which depicts a gun team in action earlier in World War One (1914-1918) at the Battle of Le Cateau.
