Sabretache used by Lieutenant-General Henry William Paget, Earl of Uxbridge, 7th (or the Queen's Own) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons (Hussars), 1815
Uxbridge commanded the British cavalry at Waterloo (1815). At the end of the battle his right knee was shattered by a piece of shot which narrowly missed the Duke of Wellington. He was carried to a house at Waterloo where his leg was amputated. This red sabretache, complete with gold embroidered royal monogram, crown and crossed swords, is still stained with Uxbridge's blood.
