Powder horn, 1780 (c)
A powder horn was used to pour gunpowder into the barrel of a weapon. They were usually made from cow and buffalo horns and had a stopper at one end and a lid at the other. This example belonged to a soldier of the 40th (2nd Somersetshire) Regiment of Foot.
