Edward St Vincent Digby, 9th Baron Digby (1809-1889), was the son of Admiral Henry Digby (1770-1842) who fought at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
Digby became an ensign in the 65th (2nd Yorkshire, North Riding) Regiment of Foot on 23 June 1825. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in 1827 and joined the 9th (Light) Dragoons (Lancers) in July 1828. He was commissioned as a captain in the Dorset Yeomanry in 1848 and later commanded the regiment. He became the 9th Baron Digby in 1856. He died of a stroke in Dorset in 1889.
