Officer's full dress coatee, worn by Captain Erasmus Goodwin, 4th (Royal Irish) Dragoon Guards, 1813 (c)
Goodwin was the Regimental Paymaster from 1805 to 1817. From 1811 to 1813 he served with his unit during the Peninsular War (1808-1814) but while there was struck down by disease. On returning to Britain he never recovered his health and eventually died in 1817.
