Lieutenant-Colonel Wilfred Bennett Davidson-Houston (1870-1960) was a member of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee Contingent in 1897.

The Gold Coast Constabulary became the Gold Coast Regiment in 1901, following the foundation of the West African Frontier Force, under the direction of the Colonial Office.
