The hostile terrain of India's North West Frontier (now in Pakistan) is clear from this photograph of the Takki Zam River. The 3rd Battalion, 9th Jat Regiment (visible in the corner of this photograph) were part of a British-Indian force protecting communication routes in Waziristan.
