Glass beaker, 1690 (c)
Engraved glassware of this kind was still an expensive luxury at the end of the seventeenth century. This tumbler has a military theme, depicting four riders, all fashionably dressed or uniformed for the late 1680s, two of whom carry carbines. The scene might represent King William III and his escort.
