Dockside, 54th Sikhs (Frontier Force), 1918

In 1903 the 4th Sikh Infantry was renumbered as the 54th Sikhs. The unit were stationed in India, on the North West Frontier, for much of the First World War. In December 1917, the unit were mobilised and deployed to Egypt, sailing on the 'Jeddah' on the 17 February 1918. The unit arrived at Suez on 1 March 1918, moving from Tel-el-Kebir to the front in late April, fighting at the Battle of Megiddo, in September 1918.
