Mysore Campaign Medal, 1790-92
Silver medal awarded by the East India Company to Indian troops or 'sepoys' who served under Lord Cornwallis and Generals Abercromby and Medows in the defeat of Tipu Sultan in the 3rd Mysore War (1790-1792). The medal depicts a sepoy holding in his right hand the British colours, in his left an enemy's standard reversed, whilst his left foot rests on a dismounted cannon. A fortified town is in the background.
