Formation badge, 4th Corps, World War Two, 1942-1945

Cloth, rectangular badge with black running elephant on red ground.

The Corps was formed in Alresford, Hampshire in 1940 and initially parts of it served in Norway under the Command of General Claude Auchinleck. It transferred to India in 1942 and adopted the charging elephant badge in that year. In 1944 General Frank Messervy took command of the Corps. The Corps was disbanded in 1945 on the cessation of hostilities.
