Indian Order of Merit badge of the 2nd Class, awarded to Sepoy Moneeram Jaisee, 66th Regiment Bengal Native Infantry, 1849-1876
The Indian Order of Merit was created on 1 May 1837 to reward Indian officers and enlisted men of the East India Company's armies and later the Indian Army who performed conspicuous acts of gallantry. The medal was originally introduced with three classes and recipients received the post nominal letters IOM.
