Other ranks' glengarry badge, 36th (Herefordshire) Regiment of Foot, 1874 (c)

Originally raised in 1701, the motto of the 36th Regiment was 'Firm'. This is thought to have originated from the family motto of Lord Stair and was adopted following the regiment's part in the rearguard action at Lauffeld in Flanders in 1747.
