Other ranks' glengarry badge 69th (South Lincolnshire) Regiment of Foot, 1874 (c)
The 69th Regiment was formed by redesignating the 2nd Battalion of the 24th Foot in 1758. In 1782 the regiment was assigned South Lincolnshire as its county title. The 69th had several nicknames including 'The Old Agamemnons' which commemorated their service as marines aboard HMS 'Agamemnon' at the Battle of Cape Vincent (1797), and 'The Ups and Downs' from the number 69 which is identical the right way up and upside-down.
