Glengarry badge, other ranks', 80th Regiment of Foot (Staffordshire Volunteers), 1874-1881
On the outbreak of war with revolutionary France in 1793, Staffordshire raised a militia for home defence. However, in September of that year it was formed into a regular line infantry unit with the numeral 80. It served until 1881 when it was merged into the South Staffordshire Regiment.
