Glengarry badge, other ranks', 90th (Perthshire Volunteers) (Light Infantry) Regiment of Foot, 1874-1881
This regiment was raised in 1794 by Colonel Thomas Graham. Its badge consists of a bugle horn with strings, the latter tied in three loops, above the numeral 90. The bugle was the symbol of all British light infantry regiments. Traditionally, the quick marching light infantry units used these instruments to communicate commands. This was instead of carrying cumbersome drums.
