Glengarry badge, 106th Regiment of Foot (Bombay Light Infantry), 1874 (c)
This regiment's direct antecedent was formed in 1839, under the title of the 2nd Bombay (European) Regiment. It became a light infantry unit five years later and changed its name accordingly. Following its service during the Indian Mutiny (1857-1859) it was transferred to British government control and given a position in the order of precedence as the 106th Foot. In 1881 it amalgamated with the 68th Foot to form The Durham Light Infantry.
