Kenya Prison Service hat, 1955 (c)
The Mau Mau fought the British administration in Kenya in the 1950s, often with brutal methods. In response, the British placed Mau Mau suspects in detention camps with poor conditions. Torture and summary executions occurred in some of these camps. At Hola camp warders killed 11 detainees.
