Kettledrum used by the 19th (Alexandra Princess of Wales's Own) Hussars, 1909
A drum horse must be over 16 hands high, strong and fit. They are the biggest horses in the Army and carry two kettledrums, one on either side of their backs. The drums are played to control the speed of the band music and also signal the Drum Major's commands.
