Pair of saddle holsters presented to George William Frederick Charles, 2nd Duke of Cambridge by the Turkish Sultan, 1856 (c)
These saddle holders were presented to HRH General George William Frederick Charles, 2nd Duke of Cambridge by Abdul Mejid, Sultan of Turkey, following the Crimean War (1854-1856) to express his appreciation of the Duke's services. The holsters are embroidered with the letters 'DC' for the Duke of Cambridge, and were presented along with a saddle and pair of stirrups.
