Cap badge, other ranks, The Lancashire Fusiliers, 1909 (c)

Die-struck bi-metal badge, with silder.

The badge of this regiment depicts a flaming grenade with a Sphinx surrounded by a laurel wreath at its centre. Below this is a band with the regimental title inscribed on it. The Sphinx was granted to the regiment in July 1802 following its service in Egypt, during the Wars of the French Revolution (1798-1801).
