The Battle of Sabugal took place on 3 April 1811. The French commander, General Jean Reynier, held positions on the Coa River where he was attacked by three divisions under Lord Wellington. The Anglo-Portuguese swiftly forced back the French, who lost about 1,500 men to the Allies' 200.
