Jezail, 1800 (c)

A jezail is a type of musket from South Asia. It was the main weapon used by Afghan warriors during the First Afghan War (1838-1842). It was slower to reload than British muskets, but had a greater range. This example was probably produced in Afghanistan but is fitted with an East India Company lock of English manufacture.
