A member of the Victorian Mounted Rifles and a lancer attempt to halt a stampeding mule team pulling a wagon.
Colonel Thomas Caradoc Rose Price (1842-1911), an Australian soldier who had spent much of his career in the Indian Army, raised the Victorian Mounted Rifles in 1885, establishing the concept of light horse units in the Australian military.
From a collection of lantern slides relating to the Boer War (1899-1902).
