Other ranks' cap badge, 5th Dragoon Guards (Princess Charlotte of Wales's), 1900 (c)
Raised in 1685, this regiment's nickname was 'The Old Farmers' as during their long stay in Ireland between 1746 and 1788 several soldiers acquired land and began to farm it. The motto of the 5th Dragoons was 'Vestigia Nulla Retrorsum' which means 'We Do Not Retreat'.
