Service dress tunic of the 13th/18th Hussars worn by Lieutenant General Lord Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron of Gilwell, 1928 (c)
Although best known for his leadership at Mafeking in the Boer War (1899-1902) and the founding of the Scout movement, Baden-Powell was also a veteran cavalry officer. He had previously served with the 13th Hussars before being appointed Colonel of the 13th/18th on its formation in 1922. He remained in this post until 1938.
