By the Summer of 1855 in the Crimea the shell jacket was the attire of choice. The officers depicted include Captain Richard Magenis, Captain The Hon James F Pennington, Colonel Robert Campbell, Captain James Rattray, Major Thomas Smith, Captain Edward Perryn and Captain Henry Crealock.
