Pioneer Manners, Guardsmen Webster and Lemmen, 1856

Photograph by Robert Howlett and Joseph Cundall, 1856.

Charles Manners, William Webster and Henry Lemmon of the Grenadier Guards wear the short-lived 1855 Pattern double-breasted tunic. The latter two carry the Enfield rifle.

In July 1856, at the Crimean War's end, troops gathered in Aldershot for a London victory parade. Webster and Lemmen were among the soldiers photographed in Aldershot by Robert Howlett and Joseph Cundall for their series of portraits entitled 'Crimean Heroes 1856'.
