An officer and a trooper of the 16th (The Queen's) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons ride down a hill. In April 1809 the 16th Light Dragoons joined Wellington's army in the Peninsular and spent the next five years there, taking part in the battles of Talavera (1809), Fuentes d'Onor (1811), Salamanca (1812) and Vittoria and Nive (1813). The regiment became lancers in 1816 and was renamed the 16th (The Queen's) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons (Lancers).
