'The Battle of Minden in Westphalia', 1 August 1759

The Battle of Minden, fought on 1 August 1759 during the Seven Years War (1756-1763), saw an allied British, Prussian and Hanoverian force under the Duke of Brunswick inflict a crushing defeat on the French. French losses were between 10,000 and 11,000 men, compared to around 2,800 lost by Britain and her allies.
