Four dismounted and one mounted Indian cavalrymen, Quetta, 1897

Four native officers and a sowar of an Indian lancer regiment pose for a photograph. In 1902 there were 19 lancer regiments in the Indian Army, 15 of which belonged to the Bengal Army. The regiments were scattered in small garrisons around the Indian subcontinent, including Quetta.
