The evening meal, 5th Mahratta Light Infantry, 1937
Photograph, India, 1937.
Cooking sets were maintained for each infantry company. A set consisted of twelve pieces and there were four sets, one for each section. The men preferred cooking in and eating out of brass utensils, though aluminium was acceptable. The sets were made to fit inside each other to save space. Two cooks, or langris, were maintained in each company.
From an album of 108 photographs relating to the 5th Mahratta Light Infantry, 1937.
