Mauser Gewehr 98 7.92 mm bolt action rifle, 1916
The German soldier's standard weapon in World War One (1914-1918), the Gewehr 98 was longer than the British SMLE but was a better design. They were reliable, robust and accurate firing a bullet with a muzzle velocity of 870.2 metres (2,855 feet) a second.
