Mounted infantry in Burma, 1886 (c)

Photograph, 3rd Burma War (1885-1887), 1886 (c).

During the Burma campaign, several infantry regiments formed mounted infantry platoons for scouting and skirmishing. The troops travelled great distances by horse, but fought on foot with rifles.
