Glengarry badge, other ranks, 38th (1st Staffordshire) Regiment of Foot, 1870 (c)
This brass badge consists of two sprays, one of laurel, the other of oak, with a Staffordshire knot superimposed over them. They surround the numeral 38. The whole design is surmounted by a crown.
The knot is the county symbol of Staffordshire and probably originated in the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Mercia.
