British and Indian riders at a meeting of the Ootacamund Hunt, 1899
Photograph, India, 1899.
Hunting was very popular in Indian Army units. It was conducted on some large stations such as Peshawar, Bombay, Lahore and Ootacamund (Ooty) on the same lines as fox hunting in England, though the quarry was more often a jackal.
