Cap badge, other ranks, Lincolnshire Regiment, 1910 (c)
Bi-metal badge with the Sphinx above a plinth bearing the battle honour, 'Egypt', with a scroll below bearing the regimental title, 'Lincolnshire'.
This infantry unit was raised in 1685 and subsequently served in many British Army campaigns during its long history. In 1960, it was amalgamated with the Northamptonshire Regiment to form the 2nd East Anglian Regiment (Duchess of Gloucester's Own Royal Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire).
The regiment's badge includes the honour 'Egypt' and depicts the Sphinx at Giza. These were granted for service in the Egyptian campaign of 1801, including the Battle of Alexandria.
